Research should not be covert. Participants should be informed when they are a component of research and when research will be shared. Vocabulary and definition should be carefully selected and demonstrate respect for cultural differences. Annette Lareau (2002) defined accomplishment of natural growth as sustaining children's natural growth despite formidable life challenge is properly viewed as an accomplishment. When I read this article I thought she was ably to create a definition for the working and poor class that in my opinion was truthful but "did no harm." Equally creative was her definition of concerted cultivation which was defined as making a deliberate and sustained effort to stimulate children's development and to cultivate their cognitive and social skills.

I agree all participants should be aware of what the purpose of the study is, and what they would be subjected to. I really liked how you mentioned that the research should be aware of culture norms of those being studied. If there is discrepancies in language, the person studied may not be aware of what they agreed to in the study, and may endure something that may violate their beliefs or values.
